2009 It wasn’t the shortest road traveled, but John Meyer is glad to return to Pittsburgh after spending three years at Hearst Television sister station KCCI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa.John is the weekend sports anchor and weekday sports reporter for Channel 4 Action Sports. A native of Rosslyn Farms near Carnegie, John attended Bishop Canevin High School before graduating cum laude from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA.While attending Allegheny College, John received invaluable experience as an intern at WTAE. John’s career fell in line from there. WTAE morning anchor, Mike Clark, played a vital role in helping John land a job at HSTV in Uniontown, PA. From there he became the weekend sports anchor at WSEE-TV in Erie, PA.John followed up his stint in Erie by spending the next three years in Des Moines, Iowa. It was there he and a fellow photojournalist won a prestigious National Edward R. Murrow award for “Sports Reporting” in 2008.
