(Sports Network) - Lauren Jackson scored 14 points as the Seattle Storm surged in the third quarter to beat the Chicago Sky, 67-61, in the season opener for both teams.

Swin Cash, acquired via trade in the offseason, had 13 points and eight rebounds, and Sue Bird notched 13 points and seven assists in the win. Sheryl Swoopes, who had spent her entire career with the Houston Comets before signing with the Storm this offseason, was limited to six points and four rebounds.

Chasity Melvin had 15 points and Jia Perkins scored 12 for the Sky, who also got seven points and 10 boards from Candice Dupree.

Chicago held a 35-29 lead at the half, but the Storm used a 23-1 spurt during the third quarter to move in front.

It was the first game for the Storm under new ownership and the team gave head coach Brian Agler a victory in his debut.
