Sacramento, CA -- (Sports Network) - Adrian Williams and Nicole Powell each logged a team-high 13 points in the Sacramento Monarchs' 73-64 season-opening victory over the San Antonio Silver Stars.

Rebekkah Brunson recorded 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds for the Monarchs, who overcame 23 turnovers with a terrific bench effort. Laura Harper also added 10 points off the bench, while Ticha Penicheiro dished out a game- high seven assists.

Sophia Young's 22 points on 10-of-18 shooting from field weren't enough for San Antonio, which shot a dismal 32.4 percent from the field. Becky Hammon was key part of that poor shooting effort, connecting on just 4-of-19 from the field for 11 points. Erin Buescher also finished with 11 points off the pine, while Ruth Riley was held to seven points and three rebounds.

Sacramento's bench outscored its counterpart, 31-13, while the squad held a commanding 42-30 rebounding edge.
