If your child attends classes in Westmoreland County's Jeannette School District, you might want to check what they're wearing before they head out the door.

A new dress code becomes mandatory in the district beginning Monday.

The dress code was passed over the summer and optional for the first few weeks of school.

Jeannette students are no longer allowed to wear jeans, sweats, or low-riding pants.

Students must wear polo shirts, turtlenecks, sweaters or dress shirts in the school colors of red, white, and blue. Only navy or khaki-colored dress bottoms may be worn and socks and tights must be in the school colors or black or brown.
