A 25-year-old woman was flown to a hospital after her car crashed into a pole, a house and a fire hydrant in Hempfield Township, state police said.

Police said the car hit a pole on Wendel Road around 10:30 p.m. Monday before drifting into a house porch and taking that out, too.

Channel 4 Action News' Jennifer Miele reported that prior to running into the house, the car also smashed into a fire hydrant, which then flew through the garage door at 88-year-old Babe Guerrieri's home.

"I got up to look out. I was just shook up when I heard that big noise," Guerrieri said.

Other neighbors in the area told Miele that they heard a bang and then lost power.

The car's driver barely missed being hit by a falling transformer as she was stuck inside the vehicle.

"You could hear the transformer blow. It sounded almost like gunfire or firecrackers popping," neighbor Josh Miller said.

The driver of the car has a serious leg injury but was in stable condition, Miele reported. No one in the damaged homes was hurt.

State police in Greensburg are still investigating the cause of the crash and have not filed any charges.
