ERIN KIENZLE
Erin Kienzle is the newest member of the Weather Watch 4 team of meteorologists. You can watch her forecasts at noon each weekday.

Erin joined WTAE-TV Channel 4 in June 2006, moving to the Pittsburgh area from Charleston, S.C. She holds the seal of approval from the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.

Prior to WTAE-TV, she worked at WCSC-TV in Charleston, South Carolina; WOUB-TV in Athens, Ohio; and WPBN-TV in Traverse City, Michigan.

Erin attended Ohio University in Athens for her B.S. in Journalism. She received her Certificate of Meteorology from Mississippi State and her minor in Spanish at the Cuauhnáhuac Spanish Language School in Cuernavaca, Morelos, México.

Although Erin loves the daily challenge of forecasting and meeting new people in the community, her proudest achievement to date was covering her first hurricane.

”I did live reports as Hurricane Isabel slammed into North Carolina,” she said. “It taught me to truly respect the power of Mother Nature.”

Erin is also glad to be closer to her hometown, since she is originally from Canton, Ohio. But she said she and her husband, Nick, will be making frequent visits back to Charleston to visit his family, their friends and the beach.

Erin and Nick also brought their dog, Scout, and cat, Salem, with them. Both of their pets were rescued from the pound.

Besides spending time with her husband and pets, Erin also enjoys reading and running. She just completed her first marathon, The Marine Corps Marathon, in the fall of 2005.

In her spare time, Erin volunteers with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
