Weather Watch 4's Winter Forecast For 2009-2010WTAE Channel 4's Meteorologists Tell You How Much Snow Will FallPOSTED: 4:47 pm EDT October 29, 2009 PITTSBURGH -- Will this winter bring more snow to Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania than usual? How cold will the temperatures be?The local 2009-2010 winter season will be about 3 percent colder than normal, according to the annual forecast by Weather Watch 4 meteorologists Stephen Cropper, Demetrius Ivory and Erin Kienzle.Winter was 1 percent colder than normal in the 2008-09 season.Total snowfall will be about 1 inch higher than normal this winter. Our predicted total of 41.7 inches is more than the normal amount of 40.6 inches, and most of that snow is likely to fall in January and February. (Last winter's total hit 41.0 inches.)
