Washington County Grad Dies In Car Crash Near Penn State Altoona

Nicole Chauvet Was College Sophomore From Canon-McMillan High School

A young Washington County woman who was attending college at Penn State Altoona died in a two-car crash Sunday night near the campus in Logan Township, Blair County.

The Observer-Reporter newspaper reported that Canon-McMillan High School graduate Nicole Chauvet, 19, was pronounced dead at Altoona Regional Medical Center following the 6:30 p.m. crash.

Friends have been leaving condolences all day on the Rest in Peace Nicole Chauvet page on Facebook.com.

Logan Township police told the Observer-Reporter that Chauvet was in the back seat of a car driven by an 18-year-old woman on Chestnut Avenue.

The driver and three other passengers, along with Chauvet, were taken to Altoona Regional Medical Center. News of the survivors' conditions was not immediately released.

Police have not filed any charges and are still investigating what caused the car wreck.
