The Port Authority has made some major changes to routes in downtown Pittsburgh.

Buses will no longer move through Market Square.

The change affects more than 20 bus routes with stops on Forbes Avenue below Wood Street.

About half of the buses will be re-routed via Wood Street and the Boulevard of the Allies. The rest of the buses will take 6th Avenue.

The PAT hopes the changes will make traffic move more smoothly downtown for both vehicles and pedestrians.

The changes take effect this morning.
