Penn Avenue Construction Work Begins In Pittsburgh

UPDATED: 11:42 am EDT May 12, 2008

Watch out for single-lane traffic patterns in East Liberty, where PennDOT began a $3.1 million construction project to improve Penn and Fifth avenues in East Liberty on Monday morning.

The project is expected to last until November. It includes concrete reconstruction, milling and resurfacing, drainage, curb, signing and pavement marking, signals and other improvements.

The work will be done on a little more than one mile of Penn and Fifth, from approximately 75 feet west of Penn Circle to approximately 150 feet east of Frankstown Avenue.

There will be intermittent single-lane traffic patterns on Penn and Fifth from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Some weekend and night work will also take place.

Port Authority bus stops in the area may be affected. Visit www.PortAuthority.org for the latest details.
