The show is part of a marketing deal with the music channel that caters to younger viewers. And it comes just days before the E3 gaming conference, during which industry insiders will get details about the new Xbox.

A Microsoft marketing official said the company believes it's important that fans learn about the new system at the same time people in the industry do.

No name has been announced for the new system, though technology Web sites have suggested that it could be Xbox 360 or Xbox 2. Online speculation has centered on whether the machine will play current Xbox games and whether it will have a hard drive.

Microsoft hasn't said yet when it plans to release the new Xbox.

Competitor Sony is expected to unveil its next-generation PlayStation 3 at E3.
