Secret Steelers Salon A Secret No MorePOSTED: 5:56 pm EST November 2,
2006 PITTSBURGH -- There is a saying among pro football players -- look good, feel good and most importantly, play good -- and when you think of how you feel when you've had a great day at the beauty salon, it makes sense. So, where do the Pittsburgh Steelers go to get that feel-good look? It's a new salon owned by one of the black-and-gold themselves. The Fahrenheit 212 salon is owned by current Steelers strong safety Mike Logan. The former McKeesport star left the Jacksonville Jaguars after four years and returned to Pittsburgh to play for the Steelers, and now, nearing the end of his decade-long career, Logan is literally a cut above the rest.Logan said the idea for the salon started when his friend, Chelsea Glover, started doing his wife's hair. Glover is a schoolteacher who used hair styling to put herself through college and graduate school. Nicole Logan was so delighted with the result, it gave Logan the idea."It started off as a general statement," said Logan. The shop is located in the Hill District, right across from the police station."I live in this community," said Logan. "I choose to live here, because I want people to see who I am, not just a Pittsburgh Steeler, not just a professional athlete. I'm a common Pittsburgher who likes to enjoy his community, who feels like an economic boost in this area would be great for this community."Glover teaches down the street at Weil Academy, where she has persuaded co-workers to become clients.
