Call 4 Action: Tax Credit HelpUPDATED: 5:51 p.m. EDT February 5, 2003 The Internal Revenue Service says it has millions of dollars to give back to taxpayers, but the money isn't being claimed.
WTAE Call 4 Action reporter Susan Koeppen says the confusion centers around the Earned Income Tax Credit. Many taxpayers don't know that they qualify for it, Koeppen says.
The credit is available to taxpayers between the ages of 25 and 65.
Anyone who makes less than $33,178 and has two or more children is eligible.
Anyone who makes $29,202 or less and has only one child is also eligible.
Taxpayers who don't have children can qualify if they make less than $11,060.
Married taxpayers who are filing jointly must add $1,000 to each of those income requirements.
