UPDATED: 11:17 pm EST December 7, 2007

WTAE-TV Channel 4 launches its 22nd year of community service to area children and senior citizens with the WTAE Channel 4 Project Bundle-Up Telethon on Friday, Dec. 7.

Beginning at 5 a.m. and continuing throughout the day, the 22nd Annual WTAE Channel 4 Project Bundle-Up Telethon will be broadcast during regularly scheduled newscasts and in breaks throughout regularly scheduled programming without interrupting viewers' favorite Channel 4 shows.

The day-long telethon will continue with an hour-long special from 7-8 p.m., hosted by Project Bundle-Up Chairman Joe DeNardo, Channel 4 Action News Meteorologist Stephen Cropper and Channel 4 Action News Anchor Michelle Wright.

Volunteers will take viewer pledges from a phone bank throughout the day, during the live, one-hour evening broadcast, throughout prime time and wrap up during Channel 4 Action News at 11 p.m.

WTAE-TV Channel 4's Project Bundle-Up is a joint partnership with The Salvation Army of Western Pennsylvania. Since 1986, WTAE-TV Channel 4, The Salvation Army and many local merchants have joined together to provide new, warm winter outerwear to nearly 200,000 needy children and senior citizens through western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia, raising more than $9 million.
