Mike Brookins is a native of Rochester, N.Y. He joined WTAE's Weather Watch staff in May 2000.

Mike received his degree in meterology from the State University of New York at Brockport.

He says that the best part of working at WTAE is the opportunity to communicate with people and warn them of potentially dangerous weather situtations.

Mike says that his proudest professional achievement was when he received the American Meteorological Society seal of approval for television broadcasting. He lists his most embarrassing moment as the time his earpiece was eaten by a goat at a county fair while doing a live remote broadcast.

His hobbies include skiing, biking, snorkelling and computers. Mike also loves to travel. His favorite movie is "Twister."
