Shiba Russell

Shiba Russell joined the WTAE Channel 4 Action News team in 2002 as a weekend evening anchor and weekday reporter.

Previously, Shiba worked at News 12 The Bronx, where she reported three days a week and anchored the weekend evening news.

Originally from Ocean Township, N.J., Shiba has a bachelor's degree from the College of New Rochelle and a master's degree in broadcast journalism from Northwestern University.

Shiba enjoys meeting people on the job and digging for information to inform the public. Her proudest professional moments came when she covered the World Trade Center terrorist attacks in 2001.

Sushi Tomo, in the North Hills, and Bossa Nova, in downtown Pittsburgh, are where Shiba likes to go out to eat.

Two John Grisham titles -- "The Brethren" and "A Painted House" -- are among her favorite books. That list also includes "A Love Of My Own," by E. Lynn Harris, and "Reporting Live," by Lesley Stahl.

When Shiba isn't reading or watching movies (like "Brown Sugar," Glitter" and "Pretty Woman"), she does pilates, spins, swims, runs or works out at her local gym. She is a former metropolitan board member of the YMCA of Pittsburgh.

In July 2004, Shiba and her husband, Richard, welcomed their first child -- a baby girl named Kadence Jewel.
