Steelers' No. 1 Pick Holmes' Trial Postponed

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The trial of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes has been postponed.Holmes was scheduled to stand trial in Columbus, Ohio, in a domestic violence case on Wednesday, but the date has been pushed back to Dec. 4.The rookie from Ohio State is accused of assaulting LaShae Boone, the mother of one of his three children, on June 19.
At a preliminary hearing last month, Boone said she no longer wanted to pursue the case. Holmes' lawyer has been trying to get the charges dismissed.Defense attorney Sam Shamansky said he's still hopeful the charges will be dropped, but prosecutors said they would at least like to see Holmes in anger management classes.Shamansky said he expects Holmes to be back with the Steelers for Thursday night's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers at Heinz Field.
