Santonio Holmes is facing a trial on a domestic abuse charge -- even though the alleged victim may be having a change of heart.

Holmes, the Pittsburgh Steelers' No. 1 draft pick, was arrested last month in Columbus, Ohio, and charged with domestic abuse against LaShae Boone, the mother of one of his children.

Before a preliminary hearing Friday, Boone wanted to drop the charges against Holmes, but the prosecutor refused to allow it.

The trial is scheduled for Aug. 15. If convicted, the maximum punishment would be six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

The domestic arrest was Holmes' second brush with the law since the Steelers drafted him.

In May, he was picked up on a disorderly conduct charge in Miami.
