PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Penguins have released their schedule for the 2008-09 National Hockey League season.

- The season opener is Oct. 4 against the Ottawa Senators in Stockholm, Sweden. Both teams also play again the next day in Stockholm.
- The home opener at Mellon Arena is Oct. 11 against New Jersey.
- A home game against Stanley Cup champion Detroit will be played Feb. 8. It's the Red Wings' only visit to Mellon Arena.
