Steelers re-sign Verron Haynes

The Pittsburgh Steelers Tuesday re-signed restricted free agent running back Verron Haynes to a one-year contract. As per team policy, financial terms of the deal were not released.

Haynes had a career season in 2004 as he finished with 272 rushing yards on 55 carries and caught 18 passes for 142 yards with two touchdowns. The Georgia product also ranked sixth on the team with 14 special teams tackles (11 solo).

Originally selected by the Steelers in the fifth round of the 2002 NFL Draft, the 26-year-old Haynes has rushed for 386 yards on 81 carries and hauled in 28 balls for 209 yards with two scores during his three-year career.
