'Pittsburgh Kid' Stops Ivan Fiorletta In Round 8

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Undefeated former IBF lightweight champion Paul Spadafora continued his comeback attempt with another victory Friday, stopping Italy's Ivan Fiorletta on a TKO.Referee Frank Gentile stopped the fight 40 seconds into the the eighth round."The Pittsburgh Kid" improved his record to 44-0-1 with 18 knockouts. Fiorletta fell to 24-8-2.It was the sixth bout for Spadafora since he resumed his career after a prison sentence for aggravated assault involving the shooting of former girlfriend Nadine Russo.Friday night's bout at the War Memorial Auditorium also saw Spadafora fighting outside the western Pennsylvania area for the first time since 2007.Spadafora fought at 144 pounds.
