Ex-Girlfriend No-Shows Kurt Angle's Harassment Hearing

Trenesha Biggers Claimed Bruising, Got PFA On Wrestling Champ

Kurt Angle was in court Tuesday on an alleged case of harassment, but a no-show by his ex-girlfriend kept the case against the Olympic gold medalist and TNA pro wrestler from moving forward.

"All I can say is I'm innocent and I just want to move on with my life," said Angle.

"It's laughable. This case is laughable," said Angle's attorney, Michelle Santicola. "This woman was so victimized and so hurt by Mr. Angle, yet she waited over a week to go to the police?"

Angle's hearing was scheduled for 1 p.m. before District Judge Mary Murray. In legal circles, it's referred to as a "cattle call," where dozens of cases are scheduled for the same courtroom on the same day.

By 2 p.m., Angle's arresting officer had arrived, but the alleged victim -- Trenesha Biggers -- was not there. Prosecutors requested a postponement, which Murray has set for Nov. 10, but she warned that Biggers only gets one more chance to show up or charges against Angle will be dropped.

"She told the officer that she would be here. We're not surprised that she once again told an untruth because the affidavit of probable cause is filled with her untruths," said Santicola.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Angle attacked Biggers in their home on Aug. 6, but she did not go to police until nine days later, showing them bruises and scratches she claimed were from the attack.

"She's a professional wrestler. She left the state, went to Florida for a period of time. We don't know how she got those bruises, but we can tell you, they were not at the hands of my client," said Santicola.

Angle is scheduled to be on TNA's "Bound For Glory" pay-per-view wrestling show Sunday night in Irvine, Calif. He's free on bail and will likely be allowed to travel for work.

Biggers has wrestled for TNA under the name "Rhaka Khan" in the past, but her profile page was recently removed from the company's Web site.

Outside the courtroom, Angle told reporters that he just wants this situation to be over. He again proclaimed his innocence, as he has done throughout the history of the case.

"I never asked for this and I would never do this to anybody. What has happened to me is a darn shame," said Angle.

Angle faces charges of simple assault and harassment, which were used as the basis for Biggers' protection-from-abuse order that got the wrestler kicked out of his Moon Township home in August.

Angle, 40, was arrested in Robinson Township on the morning of Aug. 15, just hours after Biggers, 26, got the PFA order and had Moon police officers remove him from the house.

Police said Biggers was at a coffee shop and claimed Angle was stalking and harassing her when she saw him driving around the Robinson Towne Center parking lot.

In an exclusive interview days after his arrest, Angle told WTAE Channel 4's Michelle Wright that he was looking for a nearby hotel and Biggers just happened to be in the same area. Breaking into tears, he said spending nine hours in the Allegheny County Jail was the lowest point of his life.

Robinson Township District Judge Carla Swearingen found Angle not guilty last month of a harassment charge related to the alleged PFA violation that got him arrested.

Angle has said that he never physically harmed Biggers or did anything that would cause her to ask police for protection.

Charges of drug possession and driving with a suspended license were also filed when Angle was arrested. Those charges were later dropped because Angle had a prescription for the human growth hormone that police saw in his car when they stopped him and because the license suspension was related to a DUI charge that he beat at trial last year.
