Down, but not out.

Running back Issac Redman may have not made the cut in the Steelers final roster, but the man who led the black and gold in rushing yards and touchdowns in the pre-season will be playing on the Steelers' practice squad.

Redman, whose goal-line running made him the surprise standout of the Pittsburgh Steelers' training camp, joined the team's practice squad yesterday after clearing waivers.

Running back Justin Vincent, tight end Dezmond Sherrod, wide receiver Tyler Grisham and defensive lineman Steve Mclendon have also joined the squad, as have center AQ Shipley and linebacker Donavan Woods.

Other teams can still claim these players as long as they put them on their active rosters.

Linebacker James Harrison, the NFL Defensive Player of the Year last season, is a Pittsburgh Steelers' defensive captain for the first time in his career.

Harrison and linebacker James Farrior will be the defensive captains, while quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wide receiver Hines Ward return as the offensive captains.
