POSTED: 5:44 pm EDT July 1, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Penguins signed forward Mike Rupp to a two-year contract on Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rupp, who won a Stanley Cup title with New Jersey in 2003, posted three goals and six assists in 72 games with the Devils last season. The 6-5, 230-pound Rupp was also second on New Jersey with 136 penalty minutes.

"We are excited to have Mike as a part of our hockey club for the next two seasons," said Pens general manager Ray Shero. "He brings a physical presence along with leadership and experience as a Stanley Cup Champion."

A third-round pick by the Devils in 2000, the 29-year-old Rupp has recorded 27 goals, 26 assists and 412 penalty minutes in 335 career games with New Jersey, Columbus and Phoenix.
