Abraham Retains Belt With TKO Over Oral

POSTED: 7:39 pm EDT June 27, 2009

(Sports Network) - Arthur Abraham retained his IBF middleweight crown with a 10th-round technical knockout of Mahir Oral at the Max-Schmeling Halle.

Both fighters battled pretty evenly until the fourth round, when Abraham put together a fierce combination that sent Oral to the floor for the first knockdown of the match.

Oral seemed to come back nicely, but Abraham put him on the ground for the second time in the sixth round. The Turk Oral kept battling, but he went down three total times in the 10th round, forcing the referee to call the match.

It was Abraham's 10th successful title defense.
