TE Gaines Joins Bears

(Sports Network) - The Chicago Bears came to terms Monday on a one-year contract with tight end Michael Gaines, who spent last season playing for Detroit.

The 29-year-old Gaines, a seventh-round draft pick by Carolina in 2004, has 79 career receptions for 810 yards and five touchdowns over 73 games (41 starts). He has played for the Panthers (2004-06), Bills (2007) and Lions (2008). Last season, Gaines had 23 catches for a career-best 260 yards and a TD while starting six of the 16 games he played in.
