Penn State's Bowman Given Extra Year Of Probation

POSTED: 1:48 pm EDT April 22, 2009

(Sports Network) - Penn State linebacker Navarro Bowman was reportedly given an extra year of probation after admitting he smoked marijuana.

According to the Centre Daily Times, he had originally been under probation for another month after being charged with disorderly conduct related to an October 7 incident last fall.

He was also ordered to complete 100 hours of community service with his prior charge but has not yet finished any of that time.

Bowman recorded a team-high 106 tackles for the Nittany Lions in 2008, his sophomore season. Penn State won the Big Ten conference before falling in the Rose Bowl to Southern California.
