Houston Signs LB June

POSTED: 5:15 pm EDT April 6, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Houston Texans on Monday signed free-agent linebacker Cato June. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

June, 29, spent the past two seasons with Tampa Bay. While with the Buccaneers he started 28 games and totaled 141 tackles and two interceptions.

After being picked by Indianapolis in the sixth round of the 2003 draft, he spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Colts. He won a Super Bowl with the team in 2006 and was named a starter in the 2005 Pro Bowl.

"Cato brings some athleticism and veteran leadership also to our group," said Houston linebackers coach Johnny Holland. "He's played on a Super Bowl championship team; he's been to the big dance before. We were looking for somebody that could be a leader by example for our group and our whole team."

In 88 career games, June has recorded 490 tackles, one sack and 12 interceptions.
