PITTSBURGH -- Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes was a guest on
"Live With Regis and Kelly" on Wednesday morning and re-enacted the famous catch that won him the Most Valuable Player award in Super Bowl XLIII.
He also made surprising comments about his health during the championship game, but officials at Steelers headquarters said Holmes was just joking.
Watch The VideoThe uniform was gone, replaced by a suit when Holmes made his appearance on the talk show, continuing his Super Bowl celebration. But one exchange between host Regis Philbin and Holmes gave some people pause.
"Most people don't know that he played that game with a broken rib and two dislocated ribs as well. How are you feeling right now?" Philbin asked.
"I feel great man. I can't complain about the ribs right now," Holmes said on the show.
That's the first time Holmes has ever mentioned broken ribs or playing with an injury in the Super Bowl.
Steelers spokesman Dave Lockett said Holmes was just joking. The exchange may have been a reference to quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who told SportsIllustrated.com's Peter King that he played with a broken rib in the Super Bowl.
Lockett said Holmes was healthy for the game and healthy enough to re-enact his game winning catch on the show.
Philbin and Holmes ran the same play, and Holmes achieved the same result -- touchdown.
