PITTSBURGH -- It's a watch that has followed Steelers offensive tackle Max Starks since Super Bowl XL in Detroit three years ago.

Starks purchased his SEAL watch from Mike Kobold, a Pittsburgh watchmaker and Carnegie Mellon University graduate, just days before the team won their fifth Lombardi Trophy.

Hoping to bring the same luck with him to Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa Bay, Starks recently wrote Kobold a check for 12 watches for the offensive line and its coach.

"It's a group of guys and we've grown very close this year, going though adversity and a lot of criticism and we've just hung in there and always stayed a tight unit," said Starks.

Starks handed out the surprises to his teammates following the Steelers' AFC Championship victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

"It was a little shocker, but it was a nice gift, so we appreciate it," said teammate Willie Colon.

While Starks' fellow linemen were grateful for his generosity, they said they'll be anticipating more of it from now on.

"I expect to be treated like a king and I may expect a matching bracelet to go with the watch, so we'll see what he does," said Colon.

For Starks, meeting the needs of some teammates could turn into a fulltime job.

"We expect him to provide us with meals, transportation, and whatever entertainment we choose," said center Justin Hartwig.
