UPDATED: 12:59 pm EDT July 4, 2008

The Pittsburgh Penguins locked up another one of their star players on Thursday, signing goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury to a seven-year, $35 million contract.

One day earlier, the Pens signed center Evgeni Malkin to a five-year extension that will begin in the 2009-10 season and is worth a total of $43.5 million -- just like the deal teammate Sidney Crosby got in 2007.

Also on Thursday, the Pens signed free agents Ruslan Fedotenko and Miroslav Satan -- a pair of New York Islanders forwards -- to one-year contracts.

Meanwhile, free agent forward and Montreal native Georges Laraque signed a three-year contract with his hometown Montreal Canadiens for a reported $4.5 million.

Here's how the Penguins' free-agent picture is shaping up so far:

LOSSES:

Forward Marian Hossa signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings for $7.45 million.

Forward Jarkko Ruutu signed with the Ottawa Senators for three years and a reported $3.9 million on Wednesday.

Forward Georges Laraque signed a three-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens for a reported $4.5 million on Thursday.

Backup goaltender Ty Conklin jumped to Detroit and signed a one-year deal on Tuesday.

Upper St. Clair native Ryan Malone and Gary Roberts signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning after Tampa acquired their negotiating rights in exchange for a third-round draft pick.

Forward Adam Hall also signed with the Lightning.

Center Evgeni Malkin signed a five-year contract extension that will begin in the 2009-10 season for a total of $43.5 million.

Former New York Islanders forward Ruslan Fedotenko signed a one-year contract Thursday. He scored 33 points on 16 goals and 17 assists with the Islanders last season.

Former New York Islanders forward Miroslav Satan signed a one-year contract Thursday. He scored 41 points on 16 goals and 25 assists with the Islanders last season.

Defenseman Brooks Orpik signed a six-year contract to stay with Pittsburgh late Wednesday afternoon.

Fans Are Talking

Here's what you're saying about the Penguins' free agency situation on ThePittsburghChannel.com's message board:

Anthony451 says, "Fedatenko and Satan will help they both can put the puck into the net. We also needed the core playrs which we signed. Losing Hossa its his loss. Mr Malone remember one year does not make a player. Adam Hall who cares. Ruutuu and Roberts were good for the regular season playoffs hardly did anything. George Larouque decided to be a player not a protector like he was paid to do. We will be fine in 2008-2009. Let's Go Pens!"

den529 says, "Yes I'm upset about Malone. He should stay here. I SIMPLY ADORE ROBERTS but he's getting old and time to let it go. We need to pick up a new (BETTER... HOW!!!!) forward than Malone. Go figure."

Title Town says, "How is the dismantlement going? I liked the way Malone played, and Roberts looked pretty good on the ice as well. Your team will not be the same without them. Just think, this is just the tip of the iceberg of what is going to happen to your team. It's payday for your roster and they want their money. I guess the Wings will not see you in the finals next season. Too bad, but we will survive."
