Pirates Place Dumatrait On DL

(Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Pirates placed pitcher Phil Dumatrait on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with left rotator cuff tendinitis.

Pitcher T.J. Beam was promoted from Triple-A Indianapolis to fill Dumatrait's roster spot.

In 20 appearances this season, 10 of them starts, Dumatrait is 3-4 with a 4.66 earned run average and 51 strikeouts.

This will mark Beam's second career major league stint. In 2006 the 27- year-old was 2-0 with an 8.50 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 20 relief appearances for the New York Yankees.
