ALBION, Pa. -- Former world lightweight champion Paul "The Pittsburgh Kid" Spadafora has been released from state prison in Albion, Erie County. The 32-year-old boxer was incarcerated last week after being accused of violating a protection from abuse order by meeting his former fiancee, Nadine Russo, at an Edinboro motel.Prosecutors dropped charges that Spadafora violated the order.
Defense attorney Ken Bickel said officials released Spadafora from prison after deciding not to file parole violation charges.Spadafora was paroled in April 2006 after 13 months' incarceration for shooting Russo in October 2003.They now have a child together, but Russo got a PFA against him in June.
