Roger Clemens' former trainer, Brian McNamee, told congressional investigators that the seven-time Cy Young award winner's wife took human growth hormone before she posed with Clemens in a swimsuit in a 2003 issue of Sports Illustrated, a source told the New York Daily News.

"McNamee discussed his wife's use before the committee," the source told the newspaper. "She was trying to get in shape for the SI cover. He told them the story that Debbie (Clemens) took growth."

The Daily News reported that McNamee testified Thursday that the former trainer injected Debbie Clemens at the direction of the pitcher.

McNamee's attorneys did not confirm or deny source's information to the newspaper. Clemens' attorney Lanny Breuer did not return a phone call seeking comment from the Daily News on Friday.

McNamee met with congressional lawyers for about seven hours Thursday in preparation for the Feb. 13 hearing with the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which is investigating the use of steroids in baseball. McNamee, who claims he injected Roger Clemens with performance-enhancing drugs throughout his career, released photographs Thursday showing the needles, vials and bloody gauze the trainer saved since 2001. He turned the evidence over to federal investigators last month.

Roger Clemens, who has adamantly denied McNamee's allegations, met with members of the House committee Thursday and Friday. The former Yankee claims that the only injections he received from McNamee were for vitamin B-12 and lidocaine.
