"Pittsburgh Kid" Paul Spadafora will make his return to the boxing ring for the first time in eight months.

The undefeated former IBF lightweight champion is set to spar in a four-round welterweight exhibition at the Avalon Hotel in Erie on Nov. 21.

There is no word on who Spadafora's opponent will be.

But Spadafora's promoter, Michael Acri, wants him in the ring for an official bout soon.

"I am very hopeful that he will be in the ring for an official bout by December or January at the latest," said Acri.

Spadafora is 40-0-1 with 16 knockouts. In his last fight on March 9, he won a 10-round decision over Oisin Fagan, ending Fagan's two-year, 11-bout win streak.

After defending the IBF lightweight title eight times, Spadafora decided to move up in weight class, vacating the title.

Out of the ring, Spadafora has dealt with numerous legal troubles, including spending time in jail for shooting his former girlfriend in the leg.

In a recent one-on-one interview with WTAE Channel 4 Action News, Spadafora credited alcohol with all of the troubles he has experienced. However, he said he is clean now and focused on his return to the ring.
