The San Diego Chargers have acquired wide receiver Chris Chambers from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a 2008 second- round draft choice.

Chambers should provide a major spark to a Chargers passing game which ranks 19th in the NFL in yards per contest (221.5).

"We are very excited to add Chris to our team," said Chargers general manager A.J. Smith. "He brings a wealth of experience and outstanding production. He is an extremely talented football player and we have held him in high regard throughout his career."

Chambers has caught 31 passes for 415 yards this season. For his career, Chambers ranks fourth in Dolphins history in receptions (405), receiving yards (5,688) and touchdown receptions (43).

The Chargers also placed wide receiver Eric Parker on injured reserve Tuesday. Parker had not played this season while recovering from August surgery to repair a cracked bone near his right big toe.
