WPIAL Announces First Hall Of Fame Class

Legendary athletes, coaches, teams and referees from western Pennsylvania high schools are in the first class to be inducted to the WPIAL Hall of Fame.

The announcement was made on Tuesday morning at the Heinz History Center in the Strip District.

Hall of Fame inductees are:

  • Sean Shapert, soccer, Moon Area
  • Bill Fralic, football, Penn Hills
  • Suzie McConnell-Serio, basketball, Seton-La Salle
  • Dick Hoak, football/basketball, Jeannette
  • Jennifer Flynn-Oldenburg, volleyball/softball, Baldwin
  • Arnold Palmer, golf, Greater Latrobe
  • Cary Kolat, wrestling, Jefferson-Morgan
  • 1987 North Hills football team
  • 1996 Bethel Park boys swimming team
  • Jim Horner, wrestling official
  • Norm Crawford, track official
  • Walter "Pete" Antimarino, football coach, Gateway
  • Dave Nichol, basketball/baseball coach, Monaca
  • Don Graham, basketball coach, North Catholic
  • Pat Campbell, swimming coach, Bethel Park
  • Charles "Ace" Heberling, contributor


The induction ceremony will be held on June 22 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Moon Township. Ticket reservations may be made at www.wpial.org.
