Timmons (6-foot-1, 234 pounds) was selected 15th overall in this year's draft. It's the first time the Steelers have drafted a linebacker in the first round since Huey Richardson, who was also a No. 15 selection, in 1991.

Timmons finished his college career with 126 tackles, eight sacks, 2.5 tackles for losses and four blocked kicks. Last season, as a junior, he had 79 tackles and five interceptions.

His father, Lindsley, played basketball at Duquesne University.
