Steelers Want To Delay Vote On Casino Master PlanPOSTED: 11:30 am EDT April 24,
2007 PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers want the city planning commission to delay a vote on a master plan for a casino to be built on the city's North Shore, not far from stadiums where the Steelers and Pirates play.Steelers President Art Rooney II said PITG Gaming didn't do enough to study the impact the casino will have on traffic on days the Steelers play.Rooney said the team is concerned about that, because traffic is already jammed badly by the 65,000 fans that attend the team's games. The commission is to vote on the plan May 1, but some officials said they already expect the vote will be delayed by the traffic concerns and other questions. But casino officials said Sunday and Monday night football games aren't peak times for the casino, so they don't expect any traffic problems.
