And then there were three.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, looking to replace former head coach Bill Cowher, said they have narrowed their list of candidates to assistant head coach Russ Grimm, Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera and Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin.

Each of the three has already been interviewed once, and they will be asked back for a second round of meetings, the Steelers said.

Tomlin will be in Pittsburgh on Tuesday for his second interview, the Steelers said, while Grimm will talk with management again on Wednesday.

NFL rules prevent Rivera from talking with the Steelers again until the Bears' season ends. Chicago will host the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship game on Sunday.

Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey, a former offensive coordinator with the Steelers, had an interview last week but did not make the final cut.

Ken Whisenhunt, another former offensive coordinator, is also out of the running. He took the Arizona Cardinals' head coaching job on Sunday.
