Highmark Healthy High 5 Bullying Prevention Institute sessions are being planned in collaboration with the Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at Windber Research Institute.
All sessions are provided at no cost and continuing education credits are offered for various disciplines. Lunch is also provided.

FOR GENERAL SCHOOL PERSONNEL
New Bullying Prevention Legislation in Pennsylvania: An Elluminate SessionRecent legislation calls for Pennsylvania schools to create policy to address bullying prevention. To help schools begin policy development, an online, interactive session is being offered and is intended for all school services personnel. Administrators and others interested in crafting effective school policy related to bullying are encouraged to participate. Hosted by Mike Kosup, Pennsylvania Department of Education Safe Schools supervisor, the one-hour sessions will provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to formulate a concise, purposeful response to bullying within their districts.
In addition, Mary Dolan, safe schools coordinator from the Center for Safe Schools, will provide an overview of what to look for when selecting bullying prevention programs to support new or revised bullying prevention policy.

Intended for general school personnel, the half-day, morning Bullying Prevention 101 sessions are designed to provide a basic understanding of bullying as a social epidemic and the effect it has on students and their school environment. The sessions provide crucial background to those beginning a new or restructuring bullying prevention effort within their schools. Concurrent afternoon tracks afford two options:
- Track 1 Olweus Bullying Prevention Program Overview for teachers and other school personnel
- Track 2 Effective Leadership for Schools Using the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program for school administrators and school board members

Coordinating Committee Workshops
The day-long coordinating committee workshops are designed to provide support to schools that have adopted the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP) through either HALT! or PA CARES. Schools are encouraged to send team members charged with program implementation. Held in locations across the state, the interactive session affords networking opportunities with teams from nearby schools. Content will highlight OBPP best practices and a panel discussion that will address creative strategies for implementation at various grade levels. The afternoon portion will include keynote speakers covering topics of high interest related to bullying in schools.

FOR OLWEUS BULLYING PREVENTION PROGRAM TRAINERS
Update on Recertification Process for Pennsylvania TrainersIntended for all Pennsylvania Olweus Bullying Prevention Program trainers, this update on recertification is an hour-long session designed to introduce a new recertification process begin piloted in Pennsylvania. This process will include exciting new continuing education opportunities for trainers. Please tune in to hear the latest!

As a core component of the new recertification process, seasoned Olweus trainers will be invited to apply to become an Olweus Technical Assistant Coordinator (OTAC) for Pennsylvania. An OTAC will participate in the recertification and training of current and new Olweus trainers in Pennsylvania. Applications for OTAC designation will be available soon from the Center for Safe Schools. Watch your e-mail!
