Ravenstahl, Acklin, Harris Make Final Campaign PushPittsburgh Will Elect Mayor On TuesdayPOSTED: 5:53 pm EDT October 30, 2009 PITTSBURGH -- The Halloween weekend marks the final campaign push for Pittsburgh's mayoral candidates before Election Day on Tuesday.Democratic Mayor Luke Ravenstahl spent some of his Friday afternoon at a Halloween party in the Hill House in the Hill District.Explaining why he thinks he should be re-elected, Ravenstahl said. "Good things are happening in Pittsburgh. This city is on its way back to recovery in a lot of different ways. The president has acknowledged that, the world has acknowledged it, so that'll be our message."Independent Kevin Acklin toured senior centers on Friday, including one in Beechview, where he summarized his campaign message for Channel 4 Action News."We'll have more officers on the street. We'll have them out in their cars walking the beats. We'll be investing in your neighborhoods, so if you elect me, I'll be the kind of mayor that is out there in the neighborhoods, doing what's right for the people of the city," Acklin said.Independent Franco "Dok" Harris said on Friday that one of his goals is to create more gardens and farms in the city of Pittsburgh."These are the kind of things we can recreate throughout the city and have impact on environment," Harris said.
