2009 PITTSBURGH -- Democratic Mayor Luke Ravenstahl will run for re-election as the candidate for his party, and he will also be the Republican candidate.The Allegheny County Board of Elections certified Monday that Ravenstahl won the GOP write-in campaign with 607 votes. The runner-up was 38-year-old Josh Wander with 189 votes.Last month, Ravenstahl beat City Councilman Patrick Dowd and Carmen Robinson in the Democratic primary. No Republican candidates registered in the primary.Franco "Dok" Harris, the son of Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Famer Franco Harris, and Kevin Acklin, a Harvard-educated attorney, will run against Ravenstahl as independents in the November election.Pittsburgh has not elected a Republican mayor since the Great Depression. The city's registered Democrats outnumber Republicans 5-to-1.
