PITTSBURGH -- At the rate Pittsburgh sports teams are winning championships, President Barack Obama may just want to keep their phone numbers on speed dial.

For the second time since February, Obama put in a call to a Pittsburgh head coach on Thursday, this time to the Penguins' Dan Bylsma.

Obama congratulated Bylsma and the Pens on defeating the Detroit Red Wings and winning the third Stanley Cup in franchise history.

"The president joked that, coupled with the Steelers' Super Bowl win, Pittsburgh fans might be 'getting spoiled' and said he hoped the team will come to the White House," said a media e-mail from the White House.

Since taking over as the Pens' head coach in mid-February, Bylsma has had plenty of highlights in his young career, but perhaps none as unique as getting a personal call from the commander-in-chief.

"To hear from the president of the United States and have him congratulate our team on this accomplishment is such an incredible honor that I'm almost speechless," said Bylsma.

Obama also called Steelers coach Mike Tomlin following the team's victory in Super Bowl XLIII.

The Steelers visited the White House in May, something the Pens are also expected to do later this summer.

"President Obama is dealing with so many important issues facing the country and the world. It says a lot about him that he would take the time to place that call. It is a highlight I will never forget," said Bylsma.
