During the Pittsburgh Penguins' amazing win against the Red Wings Monday night in Detroit, a few of the team's key players got a bit banged up.

During the three-overtime 4-3 victory, Ryan Malone took a puck to the face and Sergei Gonchar was taken off the ice after crashing into the boards.

But it's the Stanley Cup finals and the Pens are down 3-2 in the series, so you better believe both players returned to the ice before the end of the game.

"I think we all know what's on the line," said Pens captain Sidney Crosby. "If you can move and you can help your team, you're going to do whatever it takes to go out there and do it."

On Wednesday, Malone underwent tests to determine the extent of the damage. There is no word on the results at this time.

"We're not quite sure yet, but I spoke to him after the game," said Pens head coach Michel Therrien. "Put it this way, I'll be really surprised if he's not playing."

Therrien also expects Gonchar to play Wednesday night in Game 6 at Mellon Arena. He said the team's medical staff worked on Gonchar for a good portion of the game, trying to calm back spasms he was experiencing.

Both Malone and Gonchar were on the ice when Petr Sykora scored the game-winning goal, shortly after telling an NBC sideline reporter he was going to do so.

"It's definitely a booster to see guys come back," said Crosby.
