MONROEVILLE, Pa. -- Pittsburgh Penguins fans will do almost anything to celebrate their team. One local fan is going to the extreme, using his prosthetic leg to cheer the team to victory.Albert Giulianelli lost his leg to diabetes five years ago. His new leg, though, isn’t just any prosthetic leg.On Wednesday, he received the new leg, complete with the Penguins logo on the front and a captain's "C" on the back."I looked at it, it was great," he said. "It looked real good, man. I loved it."The leg was made by Union Prosthetics in Monroeville. The staff realized what a fan Giulianelli is and decided to make the special leg for the man they call the Pens' No. 1 fan."It was pretty moving," said Rich Relich of Union Prosthetics. "He looked at it and said it was awesome. It brought a tear to our eyes."Bill Broker made the leg. He said it took about a week and a half to make."It kind of gives you an artistic chance to play a little," he said. "I would say it personalizes it. A lot of people don't ask us to do it, but it's something we can offer them."The company has also made legs bearing the Harley Davidson symbol and Dale Earnhardt insignias.Giulianelli said his new prosthetic makes it easier to walk, and the design is an obvious lift to his spirits. But he said he would like to add one more logo to his leg."If they win the Stanley Cup, I'll put the Stanley Cup on it," he said.
