PITTSBURGH -- The first images of the new Pittsburgh Penguins arena design have been released.Architects have spent several weeks tweaking their design, because the city Planning Commission voiced several complaints. Some members rejected the first design, claiming the structure looked like a big box retailer. The new design of the $290 million facility has many windows and a Jumbo-Tron at the top of the structure, which will be located on the edge of the city's Hill District near where the Mellon Arena currently stands.Bars and restaurants will line the road below. The commission approved the new design at its Tuesday afternoon meeting. Some conditions will be required along the way, but construction is expected to start next month."It'll go fast," said Ken Sawyer of the Pens organization. The new arena is scheduled to be ready for the 2010-2011 hockey season.
