Flyers D Timonen Returns For Game 5; Coburn Out

POSTED: 6:48 pm EDT May 18, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Flyers welcomed the return of defenseman Kimmo Timonen to the lineup for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals against Pittsburgh, but defenseman Braydon Coburn remained sidelined with an eye injury.

Pittsburgh pummeled the Flyers, 6-0, to secure a berth in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Timonen recorded three shots and a minus-2 rating in 21:43 of ice time.

The Finnish defenseman missed the first four tests of this series with a blood clot in his left ankle.

Timonen, 33, sustained the injury blocking a shot during Game 4 of the club's semifinal series against Montreal, and played through pain in helping the Flyers dispatch the Canadiens in Game 5.

He was originally expected to be sidelined for the entire series.

Coburn missed his third straight game since getting hit in the face with a puck just 1:51 into Game 2.
