Walker Signs With Panthers

POSTED: 4:06 pm EDT April 28, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Carolina Panthers signed defensive tackle Darwin Walker to a one-year contract on Monday.

According to a Charlotte newspaper, the deal may be worth more than $1 million with incentives.

Walker was hampered by injuries in 2007, playing in only 11 games, while registering 17 tackles and one sack for the Chicago Bears.

The 31-year-old South Carolina native spent the previous six seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, playing in 87 games. He posted a career-best in tackles with 42 in 2003, while being credited with a career-best 7 1/2 sacks in 2002.

Walker is expected to move alongside Maake Kemoeatu and Damione Lewis.
