Redskins Place OT Samuels On IR

POSTED: 4:22 pm EDT October 31, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Washington Redskins placed offensive tackle Chris Samuels on season-ending injured reserve Saturday.

Samuels suffered a neck injury on October 11 against the Carolina Panthers, and it has been rumored that the six-time Pro Bowl selection may retire due to the ailment.

The Redskins starting left tackle since 2000, Samuels has played with spinal stenosis his entire pro career. Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spine, and Samuels will talk to medical specialists to determine his future.

The 32-year-old started the team's first five games before the injury. Stephon Heyer has moved over from right tackle to start on the left side the last two games.
